5 food trucks that will satisfy your sweet tooth

Churros, cookies, and even bananas, these Austin food trucks are some of the best. Their irresistible treats will leave you wanting more. Trust me...it's worth EVERY calorie.

Have you ever found yourself wondering where to find the most delicious desserts in Austin? Well, look no further my friend. Food trucks are unique to the Austin culture and allow customers an exciting and adventurous experience that every food lover should partake in. I am here to present you with five of the best food trucks for what I believe to be the most important meal: dessert.

*(Side note: these are listed in no particular order)*

1) Churro Co. Austin

WHY: If you think you've had the best churros, wait until you visit this delicious food truck. Their perfectly crispy churros that are coated in the perfect amount of sugar are nothing short of mouthwatering. Their menu might only offer a limited amount, but every item is a winner in my book. I found it hard to choose between their "Campfire" churros, which smothered in graham cracker sugar topped with chocolate sauce and marshmallows, and their "Texas Comfort" churros topped with home-made apple pie. ~Commence the drooling~ Against all odds, it gets even better: they're open all day every day. Do yourself a favor and go here.

MUST-ORDER ITEM: You can never go wrong with the traditional churros. These churros are covered in savory cinnamon sugar and chocolate. Not to mention, they come with caramel or Nutella dipping sauce (I prefer Nutella).

2) Cold Cookie Creamery

WHY: At this food truck, ice cream and cookies are the specialty. With countless flavors and mix-and-match options, there is something for everyone. Want to create your own ice cream sandwich? Go for it. You can customize your own creation to your heart's desire, even milkshakes for an on-the-go treat. The cookies are made in house and are all original recipes, leaving the customers with flavorful, perfectly textured cookies. Located in West Campus, this is an extremely convenient spot for the busy UT student (like me) who is looking for a study treat.

MUST-ORDER ITEM: I have always gone for the ice cream sandwiches (like the one in cover picture of this post). It's a great cookie-to-ice cream ratio and an easily portable snack. Create your own ice cream sandwich, but don't get crazy. Combine flavors that go well together. Less is more, my friends.

3) Gourdough's

WHY: Donuts. That's why. These Texas-sized donuts will most definitely leave you in a food coma. As their slogan says, these are some "Big.Fat.Donuts". These are donuts like you've never imagined. They serve donuts with toppings like bacon, fried chicken, and even PB&J. For the major sugar junkies, the Black Out offers brownie batter, fudge icing and chocolate covered brownie bites. For the records, it's beyond good. They also offer the option of making your own, which allows you to construct the donut of your dreams. In addition, going during dusk or when it's dark is one of the optimal times. The string of lights that hangs above the tables in front of the food truck ensues a quaint and charming atmosphere. These lip-smacking donuts will leave you second guessing ever going back to Shipley's.

MUST-ORDER ITEM: Mama's Cake. The amount of times I've eaten here and ordered Mama's Cake is probably concerning as far as my health, but I can't resist. This donut is filled with cake batter and topped with chocolate fudge icing. Can you say ~OMG~.

4) Bananarchy

WHY: Ever tried a frozen banana dunked in chocolate fudge? It might sound weird, but it is one of the best things to ever happen. The process goes as so: pick the size frozen banana you would like (half or whole), choose a dipping sauce (chocolate, peanut butter, vanilla), then choose your toppings (there are a ton). In addition to this, you can also choose one of their "Specialties", such as the "Hippy Dippy" or "The Afternoon Delight". You may think this treat sounds odd, but don't judge a book by its cover. They are rich in flavor and an easily portable treat. You really can't go wrong with these frozen delicacies.

MUST-ORDER ITEM: If you are a chocolate addict like me, "The Cookie Crumble" is the item of choice. With your choice of dip (chocolate preferred), the Oreo and chocolate chip covered banana will make you feel like you're in chocolate heaven.

5) Hey Cupcake!

WHY: These artistic cupcakes are some of my all-time favorites. Their fluffiness combined with their irresistible icing creates a combination that is hard to find in most cupcakes. Share these delights with friends, family or even lovers! With specials for holidays like Valentines Day and Mother's Day, they make an ideal gift for any sweet tooth. Going to the location for the full experience is recommended, but there is also the luxury of ordering them online for delivery. These decadent masterpieces will have you coming back for more.

MUST-ORDER ITEM: It is imperative to try the red velvet cupcakes. This flavor has always and will forever be my favorite. Experience a mouthful of award-winning flavor with this baked good that is fit for the gods.
